The reasons for certain variations in the above examples will be more clear to the student after he has read Chapter Nine on methods of reproduction. But even without that, I hope that I have succeeded in showing that perfection in these matters is not a quality existing by itself, but that it comes only through the specialised adaption of a drawing to the particular object for which it is done. There are as many ideal drawings as there are shops and magazines and newspapers.
